I’m finally back with a new post! Life has been incredibly busy, and I did not have much time left to post on my blog. However, this `most popular nail polish shade of …’ series is definitely not something that I wanted to skip! In case you’ve never read any of the posts of this series before: I’m re-swatching the five most popular nail polish shades of the previous season. It’s basically an excuse for me to revisit some older shades, but it’s also fun to see what is trending right now! In case you want to see the previous posts, you can find them here.
Anyway, this season’s post is quite exciting. It features five shades that have never been in the top five of most popular shades and I think the shades also clearly show that people were already preparing for Spring and Summer! I definitely had a fun time swatching these shades!
5. OPI Surf naked
OPI Surf Naked was one of the shades from OPI’s Summer 2023 collection. There were a couple of shades of the Summer 2023 collection that almost made it to this top five, but in the end Surf Naked was the only one that made it. I personally understand it, because this cute blue polish is just too good.
Surf naked is a pearly light blue, and it’s very cute. The formula is also really nice and dries to a semi-matte finish without top coat. I did have to use three coats to completely get rid of all the dark spots, but it’s worth it in my opinion.
4. Essie Suits you swell
It was a surprise to me to see Essie Suits you swell in this top five. It was released in early 2020 as part of Essie’s Sunny business collection. I personally almost forgot about this violet shade, but wearing it again made me realize how much I love it. It’s quite unique for a nail polish but it’s very fun to wear!
The formula of Suits you swell is surprisingly good. It only took me two coats to reach complete opacity!
3. Essie Swoon in the lagoon
Essie Swoon in the lagoon is another shade that I was surprised to see in this top five. It’s a super pretty mid-tone magenta with an incredible formula, but Essie has so many of these type of shades that I was surprised that specifically Swoon in the lagoon was suddenly so popular, especially since it was released over two years ago!

2. OPI kind of a twig deal
In all honesty, I wasn’t surprised to see Kind of a twig deal here. It has been super popular on my Pinterest ever since I posted it last year. It almost made it to this top five a couple of times, but it was always overtaken by other shades. This blush pink creme definitely deserves its moment in the spotlight, so I’m happy it finally made it to this top five!

1. OPI Without a pout
Now I guess OPI Without a pout was the biggest surprise to me. Usually, it takes a while before new shades get picked up by Pinterest, but Without a pout was an instant hit. Wearing it again, I very much understand it. It’s a very nice pink and cheerful pink that you can’t go wrong with! It’s just impossible to be unhappy when you’re wearing this shade.
I did have to use three coats to get rid of all the patchiness, but it was so worth it!
Conclusion
As you can probably tell, this top five was initially not what I was expecting, but it was definitely a fun one! I think the main observation is that we are seeing a lot of pink shades again this year. I expected the pink trend would be over after the 2023 Barbie year, but I guess we’re not done yet!
If I had to make a prediction for the most popular shades of Spring 2024, I would definitely predict that we are seeing OPI Without a pout again. Probably combined with some neutrals and other shades of pink.
Finally, it is also worth mentioning that this is the first time that Essie’s Win me over did not make it into this top five!
