This is my first time trying Morgan Taylor polish. Gelish is well known in the Netherlands, but their regular nail polish sister Morgan Taylor is not. Therefore, this post is not only a review of the new fall 2021 ‘No boundaries’ collection, but it is also my first impression of the brand Morgan Taylor.
The ‘No boundaries’ collection consists of six new shades that will both be released in gel polish (under the brand Gelish), and in regular nail polish (Morgan Taylor). The color palette just screams fall to me, so I’m definitely very excited!
Before we start, I would like to mention some general information about Morgan Taylor. The bottles are quite big (15 mL). The cap feels lighter than the cap of OPI but is about the same size, and the brush is very wide. I am in love with this brush since I was able to cover some nails with one streak. But I also know that many of you have smaller nails. It can definitely be tricky with the darker colors to have such a large brush! In the picture above I am comparing the Morgan Taylor brush to the OPI brush, and you can clearly see that it is even wider than the already wide OPI brush! If you’re not into wide brushes, this might be a good thing to keep in mind!
Let’s get into the swatches!
Morgan Taylor Afternoon Escape
Morgan Taylor describes this shade as a burnt orange crème. I can get into it, but as a side note, I would like to mention that it leans very red for a burnt orange (but that’s just my opinion). The formula is just perfection. It is pretty much opaque in one coat, but I did two for the pictures. I love wearing these types of shades for fall!
Morgan Taylor Uncharted Territory
A “garnet crème” is the official description of uncharted territory. I used two coats. This is a fall classic and will also work when transitioning into winter. Not the most original shade, but if you are looking for a good basic red for fall, then this one is a perfect option. The color dries slightly darker on the nails than it looks in the bottle.
Morgan Taylor Laying low
“Laying low” is a very dark navy blue. I must admit, this shade very often just looks black in daily life. It has a formula that is a bit translucent and reminds me of ink, but it still covers nicely in two coats. I find this shade just another great pick for fall, and I’m sure I’m going to wear it a lot.
Morgan Taylor Catch me if you can
“Catch me if you can” is a bit of a surprising shade in my opinion. I can see how this color will work for fall, but I can also see myself wear this for summer or spring. It’s definitely interesting and different from all other fall shades I have seen so far. I’m not 100 percent sure I’m into it, but I’m willing to give it a try. The formula was good, and it covers in two coats. It dried a little bit darker than the bottle (which is a good thing in my opinion).
Morgan Taylor Totally trailblazing
“Totally trailblazing” is a brown creme that reminds me of chocolate. I don’t know what’s going on, but every mainstream brand seems to have a color like this in their fall collection this year! Again, this is a nice option, it covers nicely in two coats. I kind of wish that they would have replaced it with a more interesting/unique color at this point.
This type of brown is just a very popular color this fall. OPI Espresso your inner self is pretty much a dupe. It is maybe a bit darker, but that’s very difficult to tell. China Glaze’s Loves you a latte is warmer, and Essie Clothing optional is pinker.
Morgan Taylor Keep ’em guessing
“Keep ’em guessing” is a light beige/grey creme. I first didn’t really understand what this color was doing in a fall collection, but after wearing it, I’m kind of into it. It’s just a very nice neutral, and I don’t own anything like it. It also covers in two coats, which is very impressive for such a light shade.
In the comparison, you can just easily see that ‘Keep ’em guessing’ is much lighter than all other neutral shades.
I took a second shot with the comparisons, but you can again see that I am completely off. Master plan and Keep ’em guessing have completely different undertones. Graffiti Sweetie is much more purple and The snuggle is real is just much more brown.
Conclusion
My first impression of Morgan Taylor is definitely very positive. I enjoyed using their brush, and I kind of wish every brand had a brush like it.
As far as the colors go in this collection, I have mixed feelings. The formulas are very nice. There are some very nice typical fall shades in this collection and some very nice basic shades. Altogether, the shades just work and remind me of fallen leaves. If I look at them individually, and especially, if I’m comparing the shades to other released fall shades, I’m just not convinced that you really NEED this collection.

I bought them from Polish pick, they are the only place that ships to Europe at the moment.
These are nice, again not keen on the brown but the nude is grey enough for me to like! And Catch Me If You Can looks too peachy for me, peaches look terrible on me 🙁 The other 3 are super though 😀
I don’t know what it is with the brown colors this season! Peaches are also hit and miss for me, I’m not yet sure about this one.
