Another new brand on the blog! As far as I know, I’ve never reviewed a Catrice polish before. I did test a topcoat, here, but I wasn’t impressed at all. I actually own quite a lot of Catrice polishes, but I do not wear them that often and I also don’t buy many new ones. Mainly because I like the Essence colors better and their price is a little bit better. Catrice released the polish I’m reviewing today, Berry Necessary!, this fall. Normally Catrice changes a part of their Ultimate nail lacquer collection each spring and fall. However, this year they didn’t add new ones, which makes me wonder I’ve they are going to renew/replace this collection. We’ll just have to wait and see!
Berry Necessary! is a dusty purple creme. It is a dark purple, but it is not nearly-black dark. I love the slight dusty tone to it, it makes this polish very sophisticated. I think it almost looks like a color Essie could have released, which is a huge compliment for Catrice! Yep, definitely loving the color!
The formula was also good, it covered nicely in two coats. No problems there whatsoever! However, now that I’m using the Catrice polish again, I’m reminded that I do not really like the Catrice brush/cap combination. I don’t know, I just prefer it if the cap is not that big, just like Essie or Essence bottles. In combination with the wide brush, I couldn’t paint within the lines at all. Beugh! If they are going to release a new collection, I’m really hoping they will change this.
Now that I’ve used one of my Catrice polishes again, I’m reminded why I don’t wear many of them that often. They are all nice, but Essence polishes are nice too and I like the bottle better. But, I have to be honest, I’m really loving Berry Necessary! For me, it takes a little effort to apply it nicely, but it is definitely worth it!
