Truth be told, I wasn’t too excited about OPI’s summer 2024 My Me Era collection. While I usually always post an announcement post when I first find out about a new collection, I just didn’t feel like the summer 2024 collection was exciting enough. The OPI Summer 2024 collection consists of a separate Infinite shine and Nail lacquer collection. This seems to be the regular OPI thing to do now, as the new fall collection also consists of separate infinite shine and nail lacquer collections.
Anyway, the OPI Summer 2024 Nail lacquer collection was really not for me, it only consisted of creme shades and I was pretty sure I owned dupes for all of them. However, I was pretty excited about the OPI Summer 2024 Infinite Shine collection. All nine shades in that collection have a very nice glass-fleck shimmer and the shades are all bright and colourful for summer.
Although I was very tempted to purchase all nine shades, I limited myself to three shades (for now): Limelight, Self Looove and Sheen stealer. I’m happy to share swatches of these shades with you!
OPI Limelight
We’re starting with the oddball in the collection: Limelight. All shades consist of a creme base with a gold shimmer. Only Limelight and Funshine are not part of this concept. Limelight is a green shimmer and it seems to completely consist of shimmer (so no green creme base). For that reason, I did have to use three coats to make it completely opaque.
I do not have a lot of shades to compare to OPI Limelight. I did immediately had to think of OPI Make rainbows from OPI’s summer 2022 collection, but it’s completely different.
OPI Sheen Stealer
OPI Sheen stealer was really love at first sight. OPI Sheen Stealer is the turquoise from the collection and I’m an absolute sucker for the combination of turquoise and gold, so this polish was just made for me. The formula was better than the formula of Limelight and was opaque in two coats.
Also for this one, I looked into some shades from OPI’s summer 2022 for a comparison. In the bottle, Sheen stealer reminded me a lot OPI Feel Bluetiful. However, Sheen stealer contains a lot more green. OPI Feel bluetiful also dries to a weird matte finish, and sheen stealer doesn’t have that. OPI Sky true to yourself is really a light blue and the shimmer is also a lot more subtle compared to Feel Bluetiful and Sheen Stealer.
OPI Self looove
OPI Self Looove was also love at first sight. The combination of an orange red+gold is just always perfect for any time of the year. The red base of Self looove leans a bit orange, which makes it a typical ‘hot weather’ red. The formula of Self looove was also very good and was opaque in two coats.
Every time a brand releases a red shimmer with gold, I have to have it. So I had a lot more shades to compare here but surprisingly they are all different. Essie In a gingersnap is a gorgeous color but it leans more pink than Self looove (also, in a gingersnap is discontinued as far as I’m aware). OPI I’m really an actress also has some gold shimmer and that’s why I added it in the comparison. I think it’s pretty clear that the overall appearance of I’m really an actress is just really different. Essie Take it speakeasy is much darker than I remembered and is clearly not a dupe.
Conclusion
I hope that you are able to tell that I’m very excited about these three shades. I had to use all my willpower to not buy this entire collection, and I’m pretty sure that if I come across them when they are on sale I will take them all with me. To me, Limelight was my least favorite, but even that one is a fun shade for summer.
Overall, I really recommend this collection, particularly if you are a bit tired of releases with only creme shades.
