As with Essie – Angora Cardi, I found Bon Boyage in the designer outlet in Roermond for half the price. Definitely a good place if you are looking for some older Essies and are in the Netherlands. From what I’ve seen there is a lot of leftover from seasonal collections from 2017/2018/early 2019.
Bon boy-age is from the Spring 2018 collection, so quite recent. It’s a typical Essie shade, a dusty pastel I would call it. It immediately reminded me of an Essie classic: Maximilian Strasse her. It’s the same type of dusty essie, but Maximillian Strasse is a bit more blue/grey.
The formula is very nice. A bit streaky at two, but it covers completely in three coats. What I like about these type of typical Essie shades is that they are subtle, but at the same time quite special. You can easily bring it to the office, without it being too much.
I have quite a bunch of comparisons in which Bon Boyage is featured, however, I forgot to make a comparison especially for Bon Boyage, so forgive me for adding two pictures (for now). The first picture shows how Bon Boyage compares against more green toned shades including the more recent Essie Cacti on the prize. The second pictures shows a comparison with all it’s blue toned mint sisters. Mint candy apple, Blossom dandy, Passport to happiness are all just more lighter than Bon Boyage!
I think we can all just conclude this is a unique polish. It definitely has a special place in my heart. Even if you own a lot of mint polishes already, I’m pretty sure this shade is going to be unique.
You can find Bon Boyage over here on Amazon (affiliate link). If you really like the color, I would advice you to hurry, since it has not been added to the permanent collection.
