I cannot believe that I am already swatching Christmas nail polish colors! It feels like yesterday that OPI’s Fall collection arrived. I talked about OPI’s new holiday collection, called Shine Bright , before in this post. I have decided to pick up two (due to budget issues) but there were definitely more colors I liked. Heart and coal is the first one I am going to show you. And let me tell you this, I am pretty sure this is going to be the most popular color from the whole collection.
Heart and coal is the only holographic shade from the Shine Bright collection. The base of this polish is a metallic black (which indeed makes it look like charcoal). The color is also filled with silver glitter and holographic glitter. The holographic glitter is bigger than OPI’s usual holographic shimmer, like in My private jet. Because the glitter is quite big, I would say the polish is quite textured. At first I’ve tried covering up the texture by applying two coats of topcoat, but it is basically impossible to cover up the texture completely. The topcoat does bring out the holographic sparkle even more, however, in the pictures I am wearing the shade without topcoat.
I was suprised by the coverage of this polish. It was completely opaque in two coats. The formula of Heart and coal was a bit on the thick side, however it was still easy to apply. Removal was a challenge. The texture and the glitter in this polish definitely makes it difficult to remove.
Knowing what I know now, I am not sure whether I would buy this shade again. I definitely wish I would have read more reviews. When I applied Heart and Coal for the first time I was “oh no it is another texture polish”. Now that I have worn it for some time, I definitely start to appreciate the polish more. I can definitely see myself wear this shade on New year’s eve! I still think a lot of people are going to be very happy with it. The holographic sparkle is just amazing and it is a unique polish!

I am such a texture fan so can see myself loving this one. It does look good in your photos <3
This polish is making me a texture fan again. If your going to pick up one shade from the Shine bright collection, I would recommend this one!
